Dental Implant Procedure – Two Stage
A two-stage dental implant placement scenario involves placing the dental implant and then covering it with a screw. The implant is hidden by the covering of gum tissue. After a few months, the implant is exposed. A healing cap is placed over it and the tissue is allowed to heal around the edges. There is less risk of implant failure and infection with the two-stage procedure. It is more time-consuming and requires two surgeries, as opposed to one.
