Use of Homeopathy in Dentistry

Homeopathy is used in dental treatments as an alternative medicine. It plays a supporting role for traditional Dental Treatments. Homeopathy is associated with wound healing. It has been shown to dramatically reduce healing time after Tooth Extraction. Arnica montana, Hypericum Perforatum are two of the most common ingredients in Homeopathy. There are two main complimentary roles which Homeopathy plays in Dentistry – Pain relief and faster healing.

Hypericum is generally prescribed for the relief of acute pain. This can be described as sharp, shooting, or hot pain in a particular area. Hypericum and Arnica are also recommended for dental pain. Because they have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, Hypericum and Arnica can be used to treat tooth pain, toothache, post-operative care (extraction or surgery), facial trauma, or Denture Stomatitis.

Its ability to calm nerves has led to it being used in herbal forms for anxiety and depression. It is thought that Hypericum perforatum has a neurotransmitter inhibitory profile and may have anti-inflammatory or anti-oxidant properties, suggesting it could be used for pain management. Hypericum Perforatum was found to completely relieve the symptoms of a patient suffering from a variety of conditions. Trigeminal NeuralgiaIts neurotransmitter inhibitory and anti-inflammatory actions can be attributed to this.
