Wisdom tooth removal complications

My wife had a wisdom tooth pulled. The socket became dry after five days. She was following all precautions. It is important to stop smoking and avoid straws. The dentist keeps scraping the cavity or adding medicine/gauzes and restarts the healing process but it’s excruciatingly painful, she’s already taken 10 days off work and lost 6kg because she can’t eat anything but semi-liquid foods. She’s also taking ibuprofen every few hours which can’t be good long-term.

Her lower wisdom tooth cavity was also affected by dry sockets, but it healed after her second scrapping. What can she do now? This has been going down for more than a month.
